NZ Team Updates

From growing up in Nelson and joining his first running club in 1962, to becoming a four-time Olympian, Olympic medallist and New York City Marathon winner, Rod Dixon looks back on the people, places and moments that shaped a lifetime in running.

Rod shares the story of listening to the 1968 Olympic Games on a transistor radio and telling his mates that one day he’d be there himself. Four years later, he was. But for Rod, the story has always been about more than medals. His Olympic medal has been held by more than 200,000 kids as he’s used his own journey to inspire the next generation. From the tactics of middle-distance racing to the lessons of the marathon, Rod reflects on why he still loves running, the people who inspired him, and the philosophy he carried away from New York: finishing is winning.

Rod Dixon, in his own words.
