What is KiDSMARATHON?

KiDSMARATHON is a 8-10 week “In School” running & nutrition education program that enables KiDS to complete a full marathon (26.2 miles) by running approximately 3 miles per week.  Throughout the program, KiDS learn the value of good exercise and nutrition habits for healthy living and, best of all, they have fun! The program is completed in grand fashion as each child finishes the “KiDSMARATHON Final Mile Celebration” of their marathon distance in front of hundreds (often thousands!) of cheering fans, friends, and family at one of our Partnering Events.

The KiDSMARATHON Mission, is to ‘Inspire’ and ‘Empower’ KiDS all year round with a life long commitment to Activity, encourage Fitness habits and Healthy Food choices, especially in those at risk to obesity related health issues, and to ‘Achieve’ individual success during their 40 week “In School” year with KiDS XCountry Running and the KiDS One Mile Challenge.

Who Participates in KiDSMARATHON?

KiDSMARATHON has been welcomed with open arms into many schools and youth organizations throughout California, Nevada, and New England.  At each location, children K-5 are welcome to participate and benefit from this life-changing program.  Because the goal of the program is to “FINISH,” KiDS of all shapes, sizes, and ability levels can participate and be successful.

How Does the Program Change Lives?

KiDS who participate in our program learn sustainable exercise and nutrition habits as a foundation for life-long health and happiness.  Many other running events have joined the kid’s fitness movement and are now including youth races and fun-runs among the day’s festivities.  Unlike these other events—which are a great way for a family to enjoy a day together—KiDSMARATHON is unique because it helps children develop a lifestyle of healthy habits, and empowers them with the knowledge and character to succeed.

Keys to Success!

  1. Our motto, “FINISHING IS WINNING … WINNING IS FINISHING,” creates an environment where KiDS, who might otherwise shy away from physical activity, feel secure in their ability to succeed.
  2. By developing relationships with schools and youth organizations, we create a safe and productive environment where KiDS learn, have fun, and improve their individual health and fitness.
  3. The involvement of running legends such as Rod Dixon, Bill Rodgers, and Lorraine Moller presents the KiDS with great role models who they will actually meet and run with at training sessions and on Race Day.
  4. Training guides, goodie bags, and special Race Day t-shirts make every kid feel like part of the team.  For many KiDS, this may be a first-time experience.  Imagine the great impact this will have on their future involvement in physical activity.
